Great Falls was founded in 1884 and its location was specifically selected to take advantage of the hydroelectric power that could be generated from the water falls on the Missouri River.
Since its beginnings, Great Falls history has been rich and colorful with notable figures such as Paris Gibson, its founder, and Charles Marion Russell.
The Great Falls Chamber of Commerce was established in 1886 and was a founding member of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. The Great Falls Chamber was established to represent and support the business community and has continued to do so for over 123 years.
Today, the Chamber’s role is much the same as when it was founded. Our primary mission continues to be business advocacy. However, we also have a role in business expansion and retention, leadership education, preserving the military presence and partnering with other organizations for the overall improvement of our community.
This Community Guide is an example of our efforts to inform visitors, residents and potential residents about a wonderful community — Great Falls.
