WELCOME Greatest of Great Falls

Last fall, thousands of votes were cast in Great Falls, naming area restaurants, businesses and hot spots the best in the city. The Great Falls Tribune's Greatest of Great Falls poll crowned dozens of winners. The follow is a list of winners and a little about each place. Check 'em out and decide for yourself what your favorites are.

Italian Food/Borrie's/1800 Smelter Ave./Black Eagle: A longtime favorite in Great Falls, Borrie's offers more than just Italian.

Mexican Food/El Comedor/1120 25th St. S.: El Comedor is locally famous for its fluffy tacos, unique hot sauce and alluring tequila selection.

Asian Food/Best Wok/1800 10th Ave. S.: This cafeteria-style, Asian fast food offers a $6.25 special each day with two entrees.

Fast Food Joint/Taco Treat/1701 10th Ave., S./2025 10th Ave. S./1700 3rd St. N.W./1314 Central Ave.: Taco Treat is a local favorite. Those who come back to visit, always have to get a soft corn taco or enchilada at "the Treat."

Burger/Eddie's Supper Club & Coffee Shop/3725 2nd Ave. N.: Eddie's specially grinds its meat fresh every day. No doubt, Eddie's Campfire Burger helped the win.

Pizza/Howard's/1800 14th St, S.W./900 8th Ave. N.W./713 1st Ave. N./4300 3rd Ave. S.: Howard's thin-crust pizza is a favorite among natives, and quickly wins over the taste buds of newcomers.

Hot Dog: Downtown & Uptown Doghouse//4 5th St. S./ 2401 12th Ave. S.: The Downtown Doghouse’s gourmet hot dogs were so popular when they opened last year, the owner opened another location.

Steak/Eddie's/Supper Club/3725 2nd Ave. N.: Eddie's attracts clientele of all ages to its family restaurant, which includes a coffee shop, supper club and cocktail lounge.

Ribs/Big Mouth BBQ/1720 10th Ave. S.: Big Mouth serves smoked, baby back ribs and offers three kinds of sauces — traditional barbeque, traditional Texas and spicy Carolina.

Breakfast/Perkins Family Resturaunt/526 2nd Ave. N.: Omelets, eggs Benedict and perky bear pancakes are among the breakfast favorites served up at Perkins.

Fries/Eddie's Supper Club/3725 2nd Ave. N.: Eddie's serves both traditional-style fries and potato skins.

Milk Shake/Ford's Drive In/1301 Central Ave. W.: When the milkshake menu includes pumpkin and marshmallow, it’s no wonder it won. No other joint in town has a better selection.

Dessert/Hempl's Bakery/16 6th St SW: Hempl's has a variety of goodies, but its signature dessert is the champagne cake.

Business Lunch/Jaker's/1500 10th Ave. S.: Salads, sandwiches, wraps, char-broiled sirloin burgers, chicken, pasta and steaks are all on the menu at Jaker’s.

Nachos/El Comedor/1120 25th St. S.: El Comedor’s nachos are piled high with meat and cheese.

Ice Cream/Dairy Queen/1651 Fox Farm Rd./116 9th St N./2901 10th Ave.: Blizzards, Dilly Bars and that plain old perfectly creamy soft serve can’t be beat.

Coffee/Amy's Morning Perk/910 9th St. N.W.: Located near Taco John's on the Northwest Bypass, this coffee kiosk beat out Morning Light and Starbucks.

Regional Restaurant/Cattlemen's Cut/369 Vaughn Frontage Road S.: Located just off I-15, Cattlemen's Cut Supper Club offers steaks and seafood to chicken dishes made from the freshest ingredients.

Auto Repair/Fritz's Auto Repair/523 2nd Ave. S.: Fritz's was voted most reliable.

Tattoos and Piercing and Beauty Services/Beyond Beauty/117 2nd Ave. N.: Beyond Beauty offers special-occasion makeup, permanent hair removal and permanent cosmetics.

Fitness Club/The Peak Health and Wellness Center/1800 Benefis Ct.: The largest fitness club in town, the Peak offers a great workout — with a great view of the Little Belt Mountains.

Vet Clinic/Central West Animal Clinic/316 Central Ave. W.: Owner and veterinarian, Michelle Lague, also does animal-rescue work and puppy training.

Hotel-Motel/La Quinta/600 River Drive. S.: The La Quinta is located right on the river, and its visitors have direct access to the River's Edge Trail.

Financial Institution/Stockman's Bank/711 3rd St. N.W./25 5th St. N.: Stockman's is Montana's largest agricultural bank and also is recognized as one of the top 100 agricultural-lending banks in the nation.

Hair Salon & Nail Salon/Razz Matazz/1026 2nd Ave. N.: Razz Matazz won two catagories with its talented staff of hair stylists and nail techs.

Hiking Trail/River's Edge Trail: River's Edge Trail, which continues to grow, offers the most scenic views of the city.

Swimming Pool/Electric City Water Park/100 River Drive S.: The water park has a spray pool, lazy river, water slides and the ultimate wave rider.

Wildlife Watching/Giant Springs: The River's Edge Trail skirts the edge of this beautiful state park, just down from the Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center.

Place to take your Dog/Dog Park/800 River Drive N.: The city's new dog park was a hit from the start. It's closed until spring to protect the turf.

Golf Course/Anaconda Hills/2400 Smelter Ave., Black Eagle: This 18-hole public course has one of the hilliest and narrowest nine holes in Montana.

Bar/Sports Bar/Sting Sports Bar and Casino/1121 5th St. S.: Weekly local live music and a great atmosphere appeal to many of Great Falls' after 5 crowd. The Sting also won best beer selection.

Dance Spot/Club Bighouse/2401 12 Ave. S.: Club Bighouse reigns supreme among Great Falls' clubs.

Margarita/Amigo Lounge/1200 7th Street S.: The Amigo Lounge offers 30 flavors of margaritas.

Creative Cocktail/The Sip'n'Dip/17 7th Street South: The fish bowl is the Sip'n'Dip's signature drink.

Karaoke Bar/The Brick/2401 12 Ave. S.: Many local bars offer a karaoke night, but The Brick has a big following.

Casino/Gold Dust/770 6th St. S.W.: Breakfast and lunch specials bring in many customers who enjoy a little gambling.

Place to take the Kids/Gibson Park: Great Falls' finest park, Gibson has a large playground, flower gardens, stained-glass art, picnic areas, basketball courts and a large pond with unique waterfowl that are happy to eat your stale bread.

Festival or Event/Montana State Fair: Held at the end of July and first of August each year, the fair includes a midway with carnival rides and food vendors, a rodeo, night shows, free entertainment, livestock judging and agricultural exhibits.

Neighborhood/Riverview: This quiet, peaceful neighborhood isn't too far from shopping or groceries.

Florist/Kranz Flowers and Gifts/1305 3rd Ave. S.: Kranz has been in the flower business since 1891 — at the same location.

Auto Dealer/City Motors/3900 10th Ave. S.: City Motors sells Chevrolet, GM, Cadillac and Toyotas as well as pre-owned vehicles.

Outdoor Store/Scheels/1200 10th Ave. S.: Unlike typical sporting goods stores, the Scheels includes a collection of entertainment venues.

Ag Supply Store/Big R Supply/4400 10th Ave. S.: This huge store, has long hours, making it handy for anyone needing agricultural supplies, Western wear and much more.

Pawn Shop/First National Pawn/901 9th St. S.: This pawn shop was a clean, clear choice among voters for top pawn shop.

Downtown Shop/Amazing Toys/513 Central Ave.: For more unique toys, head to Amazing Toys.

Grocery store/2J's/105 Smelter Ave. N.E.: 2J's is a small market with great fresh and organic produce and meat, and many other unique products.
